Discover Nature, History & the Majestic Bald Eagle

Caledon State Park

Uncover Local Influence on National History

Belle Grove Plantation Bed & Breakfast
Represented by the lower right panel which depicts a steam boat on the Rappahannock River passing Belle Grove Plantation Bed & Breakfast.

Belle Grove is the birthplace of the fourth U.S. President James Madison—primary author of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Both the Rappahannock and Potomac rivers were vital economic resources for the nation as the waterways provided travel and trade routes, connecting many counties with access to important information and materials. The river and property together represent King George County’s central role in the foundational history of the United States.

Welcome to the Northern Neck

Dahlgren Heritage Museum

3540 James Madison Parkway
King George, VA 22485

This mural is designed as a welcome to the Northern Neck, celebrating the region’s status as a federally recognized cultural landscape. The image of rail cars delivering supplies and commuters now gives way to the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (DRHT), a 16-mile recreational path where visitors can connect with the outdoors and travel a route of crucial Naval history.
