A National Natural Landmark known for its old growth forest and summer home to many American bald eagles, Caledon attracts outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Trails, including Boyd’s Hole Trail, which leads to the Potomac River, are open year-round. A visitor center with bald eagle exhibits, four picnic areas, a picnic shelter and restrooms also are available.
Dahlgren Heritage Museum and Visitors Center
The museum, which opened in October 2013, aims to preserve the story of Dahlgren through exhibits and special programs. The center functions as both a tourism support site and living museum with a robust array of programs that help tell the story of the Navy base at Dahlgren.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday – Sunday
Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail
The DRHT is a 15.7-mile (25.3 km) trail from the western edge of King George County to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division. Intended for use as a public “Rails-to-Trails” project, the trail winds through rural King George and accommodates non-motorized, recreational users including hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and runners.
Machodoc Creek Marina
Full service, family oriented marina on Machodoc Creek. Located just one mile off the Potomac River in King George County VA, just south of the 301/Harry Nice Bridge. Marina includes 64 slips, 8 of which are covered. Non-Ethanol fuel available
Belle Grove Plantation Bed & Breakfast
