King George officials and a large number of community members welcomed the opening of the Machodoc Creek Marina and its owners, Jeff and Marsha Stonehill at the July 25th   2018 ribbon-cutting. The marina has undergone a lot of changes and renovations over the past year. Located just one mile off the Potomac River in King George, just south of the Harry Nice Bridge, the marina is proud to be a full-service boatyard which seeks to promote a family-oriented atmosphere that will welcome all visitors.

The marina houses 64 slips, 8 of which are covered as well as space for dry storage. There is 24-hour access to the boat ramp and is close to some of the Potomac’s best fishing.  The marina has a brand-new fuel system, offering non-ethanol marine fuel.

The marina is home to a rich history beginning in the 1940’s when it was known as “Jack’s Marina”.  Marsha and Jeff made major renovations and upgrades to enhance the marina’s functionality. Today, it offers boat services as well as fun opportunities for a family adventure through the use of kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards that are available for rent.

Jeff and Marsha are implementing plans to open a waterside cafe by for boats to stop in and for community members to come out and have a fun time. Their vision for the future is to have a dynamic and interactive space with family activities, social dance nights, outdoor movie nights, and day camps for kids focused on marina-based learning and sailing lessons.

Jeff and Marsha make a great business team. Marsha has a background in mental health and focuses primarily on the development side of their marina business. Jeff, a former Charter Boat Captain, a commercial fisherman, and a holder of a US Coast Guard Ship Master license.
