Grieving Gardener Rose Event

May 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us at Historyland Memorial Park and Arboretum on Saturday May 18th for our Rose Garden Workshop Event. This event will feature the establishment of a Rose Garden in the Garden of Angels, and perennial flower planting in the Memorial for the Unborn. In addition, this event will feature garden tutorials that focus on correct planting methods, garden design, and the importance of choosing the right plants to suit your garden desires.

The Grieving Gardeners Program is designed to use the healing effects found within gardening as a means of coping with grief. Gardening can help cultivate a sense of positive thinking that can be particularly beneficial to those in mourning. As a participant you will have an opportunity to interact with fellow gardeners while planting a bit of beauty in homage of departed loved ones.

Grieving Gardener events are open to everyone regardless of gardening skill or whether you have a loved one buried in Historyland Memorial Park. This is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer, grow your knowledge of horticulture, make some new friends, and create a lasting impact towards the gardens at Historyland. All plants and gardening equipment are on site, however if you wish to use your own gardening tools you are welcome to.

Hosted by Historyland Family Service Counselor Emily Mitchell & Historyland Arboretum Curator Matthew Amato
